Spreading the “green living” movement from the grassroots level.

Amid increasingly rapid urbanization, the Women’s Union of Hoa Lac Commune has recently become a bright example in the environmental protection movement. Rather than limiting activities to periodic environmental clean-up campaigns during holidays and festivals, the women officials and members of Hoa Lac have gradually turned the “green living” movement into a habit in every household.

Since the pilot launch of the “Green House” model for collecting recyclable waste and raising charitable funds in March 2024, and its subsequent implementation across all 9 women’s union branches, items such as cans, plastic bottles, and cardboard boxes — previously discarded together with household waste — are now collected and sorted at the source by members before being brought to the “Green House” collection points. Besides contributing to environmental protection, reducing the amount of waste requiring treatment, and raising awareness among women members about waste separation at source, the “Green House” model also carries strong humanitarian value, serving as a mobile “charity fund” that helps disadvantaged women improve their lives.
